On November 2nd, 2011, Occupy Oakland held a day of action and the city's first general strike since 1946. There was singing, dancing, theater, kids' games, meditation, and much more. Most of the banks and businesses in downtown Oakland closed for the day. Tens of thousands of protesters marched to the ports--the 5th largest in the United States--and successfully shut them down.
