Small Jewish communities inhabit Northern Israel, formerly home to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians forced into exile in 1948. Most of the refugees and their descendants now live in camps in Lebanon and Syria, forbidden from returning to their lands. Jews worldwide are invited to live on this same land. Many of these Jewish communities have been targeted in cross-border attacks by anti-Zionist fighters in Southern Lebanon who resent Israeli aggression and discrimination against Palestinians on the basis of religion and ethnicity.
