Permanent cement houses in illegal outposts of Eli settlement on Assawiya villagers' land. The broken thin dirt road in the right of the photo was created by Eli settlement as the "safety line" above which Assawiya villagers cannot farm their land, even though it is quite far from the settlement itself. Once settlers have succeeded in keeping the land-owners off their land for three years, the owner farmers forfeit their claim to the land according to an old Ottoman law (originally designed to protect farmers, not harm them).
